The Brief
This was a classic box room, the kind you start out with big plans for, then never quite get round to deciding what to do with.
A first baby on the way forced the decision: it needed to become a nursery. But it also had to keep working as a small office on the days it wasn't.

The Plan
A few layouts were on the table, but this one made the most sense for the space. The cot sits away from both the window and the radiator, which keeps the temperature around it steady through the night.
The dresser on the left also doubles as a drop down desk, and the ottoman from the armchair can be used as a stool.
We added the feeding chair in the second revision. It's a life saver for night feeds if you can fit one in, it's worth it. We tucked it into the corner by the window. It's the best spot in the room for it.
The Process
The room didn't need much structural work, the main change was wall panelling, added to bring some warmth and texture to the space.
From there, it was mostly a case of a fresh coat of paint before moving on to the fun part: styling it out.
The After
Calm and neutral as the base, with just enough personality layered on top.
Striped wallpaper on the back wall and warm wood tones, and a storage wall doing the hard work. A room that works now, and won't need a re-think once the cot becomes a bed.
Design Decisions
This box room had to do double duty: a nursery most days, and a small office on the days it wasn't. That meant a fold down desk that disappears into storage, battery powered wall lighting instead of a table lamp, and an alphabet tapestry that earns its wall space as both art and something to learn from.

One item, two functions
The room needed to work as an office some days and nothing else on others. A fold-down desk with shelving above gives a proper work surface when it's needed, and disappears back into storage when it isn't.

Battery operated lighting
A pleated shade in a soft pink keeps the light warm without adding another thing to find surface space for. Fixed to the wall on an articulated arm, so it can angle exactly where it's needed.

Decor that does a job
An alphabet tapestry earns its wall space twice over, it's a proper piece of art now, and something to actually learn from in a year or two.
